Auditions: The Producers, Feb. 29 and March 1


Auditions for the musical The Producers  will be held at the Mattituck American Legion on Saturday, February 29, at 1 p.m. and Sunday, March 1, at 6 p.m., with callbacks on Wednesday, March 4, at 6 p.m. The American Legion is located at the corner of Wickham Ave and Pike Street.

The Producers, Mel Brooks’ laugh-out-loud spectacle concerning a scheming producer and his mousy accountant’s aim to produce the biggest flop on Broadway, will be presented May 14-31.

Actors should be prepared to sing a Broadway style song and wear comfortable clothing for movement and/or dance auditions. An accompanist will be provided.
Character Breakdown:
Max Bialystock- The consummate con man. Naturally animated and bombastic, he is never at a loss for charm and manners.
Gender: male
Age: 40 to 55
Vocal range top: F#4
Vocal range bottom: A2Leo Bloom- An accountant. Boring and mousy, he is a hesitant optimist who longs for something more.

Franz Liebkind- German loyalist playwright. From his lederhosen to his pigeon, Adolph, his love for the Fatherland is unmistakable. He is imposing yet tender.

Roger Debris- New York’s most famous and flamboyant stage director. Surrounds himself with deliciously beautiful clothing, people, and possessions. In a crowd, it would be impossible to miss him.

Carmen Ghia- Roger Debris’ faithful assistant. Carmen is severe in looks and passion for Roger. He may appear younger than he actually is thanks to skilled surgeons.

Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Yonsen Tallen-hallen Svaden-svanson (whew!)- A young and hopeful actress. Though her beauty might eclipse her talent, Ulla is passionate about life and art. Quite a clueless seductress in some ways.

“Hold Me/Touch Me”- A “little old lady” who enthusiastically romps around with Max, whose shows she financially supports.

StormTrooper- Soldier whose solo leads the main production number: “Springtime for Hitler”

Usherettes (2)- Two of the featured dancers who welcome everyone to both “Opening Nights”
